Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue for the 'New Contemporaries 99' touring exhibition held in conjuction with the first Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art in 1999. Held at Exchange Flags, Liverpool, (24 Sep - 7 Nov 1999) and South London Gallery (20 Nov - 22 Dec 1999).

A level of obssession characterises the work of the 33 artists exhibited in this show. A lack of flippancy is matched by a serious desite on each artist's part to map the space around them, in relation to time and history. Many seem to draw on elements from different genres to produce close work unconcerned with exterior form.
