Summarization of Content

This catalogue was published to coincide with the outdoor sculptures exhibition "Reconstruction #2" which took place at Sudeley Castle on 23 June - 31 October 2007.

Reconstruction #2 defines the preoccupations of sculptors in the 21st century. First of all, the term sculpture has become increasingly unstable, artists range across a wide spectrum of media and materials. Secondly, the emphasis has shifted away from process and form. The artists here are engaged with context, meaning - and participation. Space is no longer understood as an empty void to invade or define. The works of art that are placed around the gardens and buildings of Sudeley Castle understand space in phenomenal, social, cultural and historic terms.
