Summarization of Content

Profile of the artist Pak Keung Wan published on the occasion of the artist's solo show at the Angel Row Gallery, Nottingham, 9 May -27 Jun 2001.

Bringing together documentation of work from the mid 1990s to the present day, the catalogue includes the new piece The Vocal Life of Jars, commissioned by Angel Row Gallery for the exhibition, as well as a new addition to the ongoing Inhaled Rooms series.

Pak Keung's work is almost alchemical; it entails the application of effort, repetition and discipline. It is often concerned with the transmutation of the commonplace (such as actions like breathing and objects like jars) back into the remarkable, and the development of an intimate knowledge with the commonplace through reverence, ritual and almost hermetic practises.
