Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue published for Yunyi Liu's solo show City Spirit at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 2014 Aug 02 - 2014 Sep 21.

In City Spirit, the artist produced portraits of decline using digital image processing software to edit and reassemble photographs of abandoned architecture. Liu uses different camera angles and panoramas to present old architecture in an objective fashion. Her photographic works provoke viewers to investigate details more closely and possibly fabricate stories of their own for the cities shown in the artist's works. Using the images she produces, the artist "deliberately constructs an arena within which our memories are activated and deployed."
