Summarization of Content

Catalogue of Calin Dan's exhibition at MNAC in Bucarest, 2011.

Emotional Architecture 3 was a project conducted in a high security prison located in the south of Romania that resulted in a collaborative theatre performance given by and about the inmmates themselves. On a deeper level, it is also an exploration into the depths of human nature as shaped by recent history in Romania. Dan draws a parallel between the prison building and Nicolae Ceausescu, who built the world's heaviest palace.

Dan was moved by the power of words when an unprecedented sixty prisoners agreed to participate in his project. He therefore juxtaposes photographers with striking statements from the prisoners, giving a loud voice to those who have been silenced.
