History

Seeing Beyond was the first UK solo show for London based artist Eric Fong.

The exhibition featured two bodies of work by the artist:
  • Shanghai Remedies (2006) during an Artist Links residency in Shanghai, comprised photographic portraits of elder inhabitants of the city and their medicine collections. The work offered a glimpse of the health conditions of the subjects and explored the shift in health practices in China.
  •  Ways of seeing: Blindness and Art (2009) was a new collaborative work between Fong and Henshaws' Society for the Blind. The video installation investigated the experiences of blind and partial sighted people when visiting art exhibitions. The artist worked with a group of visually impaired people to document their perceptual experience of an art exhibition at the Whitworth Art Gallery.
