History

Jason Ho, who studied for his BA Fine Art at Goldsmiths and his MA Film History at Birkbeck University, created 'tableaux vivants,' or stage pictures as part of his artistic practice. Performed in silence, the works are concerned with the beauty of the moving image without the need for sound. The residency was supported by the Centre's Personal Artist Development project (PAD).

Using his script adapted from the short story, The Necklace, by French author Guy de Maupassant, (1850-1893), Jason Ho created a 'silent opera' featuring footage he created during his movement workshops between 26th May and the 3rd June.

The final work was presented in his open studio on the 5th June. The artist also facilitated film screenings presenting the works which had inspired his practice (29th & 31st May). The residency was related to the Personal Artist Development (PAD scheme).
