History

Australian born Chinese artist Owen Leong is a contemporary artist working across performance, photography, video and sculpture. His artistic practice uses personal mythologies to explore identity and transformation. He is interested in systems of power, culture and representation. His work uses the body, subjectivity and personhood to reflect on universal aspects of human nature.

During his Breathe residency, Leong developed new sculpture and video works to explore the constructs with which the body is physically, socially and culturally framed.

His open studio, Ghost Heart, was held between the 7th-12th September and presented several works he had developed during his residency.

The artist also presented his previous work, AUTOevacuation (2005) during the preview night of the Cockaigne exhibition on the 13th July.
