History

People used to Dream about the Future presented two projects which sought to document the remains of the Cultural Revolution in China.

Assembly Halls by duo Shao Yingong and Muchen, was an ongoing project to document the current state of assembly halls created during the Cultural Revolution. The artists photographed hundreds of halls across China to capture how they had decayed or been converted. The work was to mirror the experiences of the Chinese people who lived through China's period of extreme political turmoil: destruction, adaptation, and survival.

Objects of Demonstration by the Community Museum Project in Hong Kong, comprised a collection of objects collected from demonstrations in Hong Kong. The project, led by curator Howard Chan, was based upon an alleged government museum which collected objects handed in by demonstrators or left on the streets after demonstrations.

The exhibition preview was held on the 20th May. The exhibition was supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Visiting Arts.
