Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue for the solo exhibition of Ming Fay at the  Hong Kong Institute for the Promotion of Chinese Culture, 1986, Jun 6 - 27.

The sculptures Ming Fay makes are intimately detailed yet forcefully integral prescences. He rejoices in magnifying the already marvelous and presents us with great fruits and seedpods, vegetables and seashells. His subjects are ordinary things - natural things which, because they are embedded in the codes of commerce and cuisine, are at the same cultural things: vegetables, fruits, seeds, shells, wishbones. Through them Ming Fay evokes our profound hunger for things and for the inexhaustibly various qualities of things. His art lies in transforming these evidently perfect creations of nature into sensuous sculptural or graphic prescences, strong to the point of seeming unreal.
