Summarization of Content

Catalogue to accompany the 1984 exhibition Hong Kong Pottery Today at Hong Kong Museum of Art.

With the progress of science and modern communication, new glazing and firing techniques and potting equipments have become more readily available. In some cases, traditional concepts and materials are adapted to modern techniques according to the aesthetic needs of the artists. In other cases, modern pottery has gained new life from various contemporary art movements, such as cubism, abstract expressionism. futurism and impressionism. A new era of ceramic art is beginning. This exhibition intends to present the works of local potters who pursue the art of pottery in different directions.
