Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition "Chinese Video Now" at John Hansard Gallery May - June 2007.

This exhibition features a selection of artists who were first brought together for an exhibition organised by Platform China in New York in 2006. The artists do not represent one particular school of thought or movement; rather, they signify a phenomeneon whose characteristic is to frequently operate at grass roots. Having experienced the transition from an idealistic society to a pragmatic one, these thirteen artists demonstrate how their attention is shifting their attention from the general to the individual, addressing the central themes of modern life; anxiety and separation.
