Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue published on the occasion of exhibitions, performances and offsite projects 'Uh-Oh! Pandaman' by Zhao Bandi. The works were show at Apex Gallery (3 Jul-28 Aug 2004); Manchester Art Gallery (26 Jun - 5 Sep 2004); Ikon Gallery, (15 July 012 Sep 2004), and Platform for art at Piccadilly Station, London, (12 Jul - 14 Jul 2004).

Zhao Bandi's practice encompasses photography, video and performance. It blurs the boundaries between art and advertising, inspired by public, service information and government propaganda. The artist and his toy panda, a constant companion, engage in a smart, deadpan dialogue about issues of concern to contemporary society, such as health and safety, pollution and crime. Speech-bubbles or slogans in turn, directly address a mass audience, like an advertising campaign.
