Summarization of Content

Catalogue of Qasim Riza Shaheen's artwork released to coincide with the exhibition Khusra: Stains & Stencils at Castlefield Gallery from 16th February to 1st April 2007.

Khusra: Stains and Stencils uniquely engages with the khusra (transgendered Muslim men) community in Lahore, Pakistan in the context of a visual narrative. Through this personal engagement with the khusra community Qasim enters a new space - a personal journey, crystallising a moment in time that is both imaginary and at the same time a personal reality. In other words, he brings several identities into a broader visual discourse.
