Summarization of Content

This catalogue is published on the occasion of the exhibition "Zhang Huan" at the Kunstverein in Hamburg from 30 November 2002 to 9 February 2003 and at the Museum Bochum from 5 April to 15 June 2003.

"The body is a proof of identity and also a kind of language". Zhang Huan's work demonstrates how through the use of the body in performance art, the body serves as an extension of an experience which inspired the performance in the first place. His pieces are arresting yet vunerable, bringing multiple dimensions to the word 'naked'.
