Summarization of Content
Catalogue for the group exhibition Taiwan Calling: the phantom of liberty held at the Műcsarnok - Kunsthalle Budapest, from 17 Dec 2010 - 13 Feb 2011.
Seen from a European point of view, "Taiwan Calling" showcases the diversity and vibrancy of Taiwanese contemporary art, giving the viewers a birds-eye view of how contemporary Taiwanese artists reflect on the world and time in which they live. The works featured in this exhibition explore the social and cultural landscapes of contemporary Taiwan, and in doing so demonstrate the rich critical and aesthetical potential of contemporary Taiwanese art. The exhibition can be seen not only to serve as a vital form for artistic exchange between Taiwan and Hungary, but also to provide Western viewers a broader view of the Taiwanese society and reflect on their own experience.
