Exhibition catalogue published on the occasion of Guan Xiao's exhibition 'Prévisions Météo' [Weather Forcast] held at the CAPC musée d'art contemporain de bordeaux from 10 March to & May 2016, and the Jeu de Paume, Paris, from 7 June to 25 September 2016.Guan Xiao's practice challenges a canon of scientific knowledge of things formerly known and predictable. She attaches equal importance to objects, people and phenomena, which she sees as being permanently in flux and shaped by the environment they are exposed to.
The exhibition catalogue is divided into three sections, named X, Y and Z. In Section X, she reflects on the fact that everything starts from seeing, and that all flat images expand out of their flatness when they are affected by our cognitive processes. Section Y explores the similarity between movement and text. Section Z is centred around misunderstanding dialogue between interlocutors and abstract images.
