Scope and Content

This catalogue is published on the occasion of Charwei Tsai's exhibition 'Root of Desire', held at TKG+, Taipei, Taiwan, 2018 Dec 8 - 2019 Jan 20.

Root of Desires examines the Vimalakirti Sutra, a Mahayana Buddhist text on non-dualism, one of the first recorded in Asia which discusses women's rights and gender equality. Using the text as a starting point, the artist used new and recent works to show her personal journey relating to artist meditations on spritual writings to social justice.
