Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue for the solo show: Global Virtual Community by Cao Fei which was presented for China's participation in the 52nd La Biennale di Venezia in 2007, held at the Arsenale and Vergini Gardens, Venice, Italy

The work was based upon the experiences of Cao Fei's avatar, China Tracy, in the online virtual world called Second Life. As part of the installation, Cao built a temporary virtual China Tracy pavilion within Second Life, to exhibit  videos, photos, diaries, and interviews she collected during her adventures as China Tracy. The installation also explored the interaction between the real and virtual worlds, serving as a experimental space for digital art where members of a online community could conduct research and curate their own exhibitions.
