Summarization of Content

Research monograph published by Hutopolis, a research programme which researches new boundaries for urban development in China. Designed by LAVA and supported by RCS.

Starting in 2010, Hutopolis developed physical strategies for urban development using Beijing as a case study via a collaborative network featuring professionals from around the world. A Map of Hutopolis  visualise this research into symbolic map that addresses the problems caused by radical urbanisation in Asia, characterised by the continuous process of destruction and construction. The map also looks at questions related to quality of life in the new settlements and issues related to preservation.

The publication contains most the projects developed during the research program as well as articles on the topics of green, density, bottom-up changes and soft strategies.
