Melt - Philosophical Interpretations of Pan Gongkai's Art / Editor: Yang Jie; Design: Yi Yi

Summarization of Content

Monograph providing a philosophical interpretation of practice of painter Pan Gongkai, focusing on his two works: MELT and  This Is My Work 這不是我的作品 (This Is Not My Work).

"Pan tries to articulate his unique concept of art with installation, ink paintings, and conversations with scholars. Pan's idea of art is somehow similar to Pierre Hadot's concept of philosophy. According to Hadot, we have two different concepts of philosophy: ancient philosophy as forms of life and modern philosophy as forms of discourse."
