Yingmei Duan is a Chinese performance artist whose practice explores human instincts such as fear and desires. She is currently based in Braunschweig, Germany.

Duan was born in 1969 in Daqing, Heilongjiang Province, China. She was educated at the Northeast Petroleum University in Daqing; Central Academy of Fine Arts; and the Central Academy of Art and Design. She worked as a freelance artist in Beijing before moving to Germany to study at The Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) in 2000. 

Yingmei Duan began to develop an interest in performance art while she was based in the art district of Beijing's East Village in the early 1990s. In 1996 she participated in the performance To Add One Meter to an Anonymous Mountain. While studying in Germany she studied under performance artist  and began to dedicate her practice to performance art. She also worked with artist Christoph Schlingensief, and participated in several of his large-scale video performance installations.

Duan's work has been shown internationally. She also had realised over 50 collaborative performances with people from different cultures. 

Duan participated in the 2006 and 2007 Vital festivals at the Chinese Arts Centre. She also took part in a Breathe Residency in 2009.
