Halima Cassell is an artist born in Pakistan in 1975. She was brought up in Lancashire and currently living in Shropshire. Her multi-cultural background is tangibly presented in her sculpture work. She finished her undergraduate degree in art in 1997 and an MA in 2002. Her work is inspired by geometry, architecture, natural form and from her foreign travels. She has travelled to Italy, Japan and Pakistan to explore new materials, techniques and approaches which helps to enrich her work. The characteristics of her work includes regular repetition of carved geometry and immaculate symmetry.
Her work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally in both private and public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallert and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. Her public commissions can also be seen in Blackburn, the Forest of Bowland, the Ribble Valley, Leicester, Nottingham and Liverpool.
