History

This record set brings together records relating to the development of the PRODUCTION residency at the Chinese Centre. The records may be held elsewhere in their original accession.

The PRODUCTION residency was a collaboration between the Centre and ArtSway in Hampshire. The split-site 5 month residency attempted to bridge the gap between the urban and rural environment by providing an artist the opportunity to discuss this relationship while based as a urban gallery (the Centre) and a rural gallery (ArtSway). The residency was committed to developing creative opportunities for artists of Chinese heritage. The artist would hold an open studio at the Centre presenting their early research before moving to ArtSway to develop a full scale exhibition.

Ma Yong Feng was the PRODUCTION resident artist who was based at the Centre from 2007 Feb 01 - May 21. At ArtSway the artist develop the 'The Cretaceous Period' exhibition, which was held from 2007 Jul 28 - Sep 16.

A second PRODUCTION residency was due to be held in early 2009 but was never realised.
