History

This folder is thought to have been originally created around 2002 by David Hancock, who was the Centre's exhibition coordinator at the time. The folder contained records related to the exhibitions facilitated by the member of staff. This original folder called 'Chinese Arts Centre\Artists' and a back-up from 2004 can be found in GB3451/OC/D/2101/A/1/2/1.

The folder appears to have been transferred to the Centre's new storage system after the Centre had moved to Thomas Street (around Jan 2004). It was still managed by David Hancock who became the Centre's Residency Coordinator and materials added after this date largely related to the residency scheme or artist development programmes.

It is thought that the folder was transferred to the 'photo server' in 2014 from an older back-up. There are folders in other accessions which also appear to be earlier version of this folder.

In 2021 the series was official accessioned into the archive. It was treated separately from the photo server as it is believed that it was previously store independently of the other photographs held on the server. Folders relating to artists not connected to the activities of the Centre were removed. Identifiers were allocated to the record before they were catalogued. As further appraisal occurred during the cataloguing process. some identifiers became redundant and were not used.
