Summarization of Content

Exhibition catalogue for the solo show Ar Chang's Persistence by He Yunchang at the Beijing Tokyo Art Projects, Beijing, China in 2004. Includes photographs, manuscripts and essays depicting a selection of He Yunchang's work, including a foreword by Ai Weiwei.

Without overdone visual effects and performances, He Yunchang's works are simple and abstract . The human body, the essential element of his extreme performance art, does not recast itself, but instead is viewed asa symbol of life, independent from daily life, social reality, political structures and economic model. Between the live performance and its viewers there is no relation, He Yunchang's works imply the freedom of being in a meaningless way as well as he keeps making and strengthening the distinction between the view point of the viewers and the experiencing of himself.
