Collection of Bob Yan's paintings to coincide with his 1998 exhibition 'Summer in the City' at Zee Stone Gallery, Hong Kong.In his paintings, Yan uses bold patches of colour and striking contrasts, giving the viewer an effect of standing under bright sunlight. His pure, rich colours and powerful brush strokes reduce any tendency towards the decorative, indeed, the directness of the expression is promoted and thereby made more real. In these recent works, he has also tried to create a link to traditional Chinese ink and water paintings hereby, demonstrating another fresh style.
