Scope and Content

Catalogues raisonnés looking at the works of artist Liu Wei, including Liberation No.2 2-4, 8; Truth Dimensions Nos. 14-18; Density 1; Jungle Nos. 20-24; and Density, No. 7-14.

Liu Wei's works feature both paintings and installations which take the form of large, quasi-architectural ensembles. His works appear as a sharp commentary on the essential vacancy and bankruptcy of cities which express nothing but their sheer volume, monumentality and hierarchy, with social values or ideas nowhere to be found among them. In his interpretation of the external power of architectural forms, it appears there is nothing magical to the architecture of power.
