Summarization of Content

Monograph documenting the work Virtually Venice  by CJ Lim which was commissioned by the British Council for the British Pavilion at the 9th Venice Architectural Biennale in 2004.

The project explored the connections between Venice and China, inspired by the story of explorer Marco Polo meeting the Mongolian Emperor, Kublai Khan. The work presented a vision of Venice as imaged by the Mongolian Emperor, taking in aspects of the East to create new architectural forms. Using the two figures to represent East and West, Lim examined the differences and similarities between the two cultures.
