To the audience that follows his creations, Xie Nanxing's works have undergone significant changes since 2011. The most visual change has been the problem that these new paintings pose to people. Namely, how should they be viewed? The more direct problem can perhaps be expressed like this: How should the spots that appear on his canvases be understood?
