Cheng, Amy, curator

Person
Biography
After completing her degree in Art History at the National Taiwan Normal University (1996), Amy Cheung quickly went into teaching at the Fu-Jen Catholic University (1997-1999). She has since been heavily involved in the curation, promotion and organisation of contemporary art in Taipei. Specifically, she is concerned with “expanding curation” through local culture and establishing long-term relationships with artists. The fruits of this approach are apparent in the curation of such pieces as ALTERing NATIVism – Sound Cultures in Post-War Taiwan (2014) and Tell me a story: Locality and Narrative (2016/18), as well as her associations with such events as Taipei Biennial (2004) and Altered States (2006). The Cube Project Space, which she established in 2010 with Jeph Lo, represents one of the culminations of her activities as a curator. She is also an active writer, contributing to the ARTCO Magazine (2000) and Art and Society: Introducing Seven Contemporary Artists (2009).
